A group of OUTRAGED Tottenham Hotspur fans have launched a petition to demand that the FA cancels the result of their final match of the 2015-2016 season against Newcastle at St James’ Park. According to the main organiser Derek Bloom, the defeat was ‘too narrow’ to warrant finishing below bitter local rivals Arsenal – a single extra goal for Spurs before the side spectacularly collapsed against ten men would have seen them take second place in the Premier League behind champions Leicester.
Derek said: ‘We have been thinking long and hard about this, and finishing below Arsenal was such a huge blow that it didn’t match the margin of defeat in this fixture. Also, it has been proven by football statisticians OPTA that less than 75% of the Spurs team turned up on the day, and as such we insist that the result was completely invalid. If the match is replayed and we lose by the same amount of goals or more, we will stop our campaign, probably.’
He added: ‘We will qualify for the Champions League regardless of the outcome of our campaign, but finishing third has left us facing a more difficult draw and it make it much trickier for us to access the knockout stage of the competition.’
