Southend News Network promised some HUGE news when we reached one million views for our Dartford Crossing song DARTFORD TOLLS across Facebook and YouTube, and so here it is! We are delighted to announce that the song performed by the super-talented Annie Humphrey will be entering the charts from 2nd December 2016 as a festive single – M25 lovers will be able to download and stream a radio-friendly clean version and the original expletive-laden track in all its glory.

It just happens that Annie’s good friend Jon Morter of the South Woodham Ferrers Massive spotted the song. If that name doesn’t ring a bell it bloody well should seeing that he orchestrated the campaign to get Rage Against The Machine to No. 1 in 2009! He put us in touch with the right people, and now it’s all systems go!

As it happens, the Chief Reporter’s ‘singing Powerpoint’ music video simply won’t cut it in the big leagues, and so we are also frantically putting something VERY special together – make sure you like our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter to be the first to see it.

The double A-side digital version is being published under the Nub Music label and distributed by The Orchard Music (who are owned by Sony, no less). All of this means that there will be a ton of ways to enjoy both versions of the song.

It will be available through iTunes, Amazon, Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, Deezer and pretty much every other digital music outlet in the world. All proceeds will be split evenly between the British Heart Foundation and Shelter – two organisations who perform an unbelievable amount of vital work in the United Kingdom.

Annie’s father John passed away after suffering a sudden heart attack virtually eight years to the day before the single goes on sale on 2nd December, and as a fellow musician she is proud to be following in his footsteps and is passionate about fundraising for the BHF. Shelter is highly active in assisting the homeless all year round, but the festive season is when the issue really hits home and this is why we are also delighted to be supporting them.

This is all unchartered territory for Southend News Network, but it will be a lot of fun to have a crack at Cowell and Co. in December!

We want to thank everyone for their massive amount of support and shares so far for the song, and we hope that the clean version can get everyone else on board as well. The Dartford Crossing has been ruining our leisure and business journeys for too long after all.

You’ll all be hearing much more about the song in the run-up to Christmas, but whatever happens this is going to be one hell of a ride.
