Southend News Network would like to apologise for a mistake that was made in our recent song Later Angrier about the Greater Anglia and c2c rail services in Essex.

In the lyrics, we gave the impression that season tickets from the region into London can cost £4000 per year.

However, a number of people have been in touch to say that they are paying more than £5000 per year.

It was never our intention to trivialise season ticket prices in this manner as it is an incredibly serious subject.

Many of those who are paying the top rates aren’t even getting first class travel, complimentary pastries and a rub down as is commonplace on Continental Europe when paying 25% of your salary just to get to work.

We wish to offer our most sincerest apologies for this inaccuracy.

A donation has been made to the Commuters’ Benevolent Fund. This is a very worthwhile cause that was set up in 2015 to provide vital emotional and financial support to people whose lives were ruined by the new c2c timetable.

They also carry out vital work providing corn plasters and food aid drops to people who are forced to walk from Wickford to Southminster on a daily basis.
