(Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation) - Southend Pier is looking to cash-in with NAKED TUESDAY promotion.

After the success of the recent world record attempt involving naked people on a rollercoaster at Adventure Island, Southend Pier chiefs have announced that every Tuesday from November 2015 to April 2016 will be a NAKED TUESDAY – it is hoped that this will encourage visitors back to the most famous attraction in the town.

In recent times, the pier has remained closed on Mondays and Tuesdays due to low visitor numbers, but Southend tourism chiefs are confident that seasoned nudists and curious newcomers alike will be keen to bare all from the shore to the pier head. For £3.00 (return) visitors will be able to ride in style on the train, while a walking ticket will be just £1.00.

Joanna Areola of the Nudist Tourism Alliance of Britain is the mastermind behind the idea, and she revealed more in an EXCLUSIVE interview with a Southend News Network reporter. She said, ‘If you are worried about feeling a little bit ‘nippy’ out there in the middle of February, there really is no need – patio heaters will be in place at 20m intervals, but naturally these will be over the water for fire safety reasons.’

She continued, ‘We are also delighted to confirm that anglers will be welcome in all of the usual pier fishing areas on Naked Tuesdays, but we would strongly advise them to check and double-check the area directly behind them before casting their fishing line.’

In a separate development, the Park Inn Hotel is reporting an unprecedented surge in bookings for Tuesdays from November 2015 to April 2016.
