Residents on Canvey Island and across Essex have been paying tribute this week to famous local businessman Jack King who sadly passed away. Mr King founded Kings Holiday Park on the island, and a number of other local ventures.
Over at the Southend/Essex Echo, those local champions of fact checking and proof reading, an article was published on their website that showcased a selection of these tributes to someone who made a massive contribution to Canvey. However, there was one minor problem.
For reasons best known only to those inside Echo Towers, they decided to refer to JACK KING as JACK FROST. They didn’t do it just the once, or even twice. Somehow, they managed to cram the same ridiculous mistake into the article THREE TIMES.
Unfortunately, the mistakes have now been put right. However, a loyal member of the Southend News Network army managed to raise the alarm just in time, and we can now present the mistakes in their full, raw and unedited glory.
For the avoidance of any confusion, we have also provided a side-by-side comparison of Jack King and Jack Frost.
Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to leave our own tribute to Mr King. The Chief Reporter has a number of happy memories over at Canvey Island FC, and it’s clear from the outpouring of (accurate) tributes that he was a much-loved personality on the island.
