PRESS RELEASE: ‘Joke’ Facebook song with 1.2M VIEWS enters the Christmas Chart Race

It’s the final week of the race to be Christmas Number One in 2016, and our festive tune DARTFORD TOLLS is one of the underdogs to watch after amassing more than 1.2 MILLION VIEWS on Facebook.

The expletive-laden track was written by satirical news website Southend News Network, and the vocals are expertly delivered by Annie Humphrey of the Essex band Frog On A Rocket. It is all about the daily nightmare of the Dartford Crossing, and it will strike a chord with many frustrated M25 users. There is also a clean and ‘radio-friendly’ version that we have recorded to try and poach some of Sir Cliff’s hardcore fans this Christmas!

All proceeds from the track are being split equally between Shelter and the British Heart Foundation. We have chosen Shelter because homelessness is always a high-profile issue at Christmas, as it is at any time of the year. Also, we are helping the British Heart Foundation because Annie’s father passed away eight years ago after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest.

The song has already been featured on ITV News (clip below) as well as on the BBC News website.

It was also discussed on The One Show, and Martin Kemp of Spandau Ballet seemed to be impressed!
