You may remember that we launched a petition to get the Daily Mail reclassified as a fake news website a little while ago. 

It is currently approaching 5,000 signatures, which is great! Take a look. 

However, in a sort of indirect way this petition has actually had an impact, with Wikipedia announcing today that the Daily Mail is not going to be considered as a ‘reliable source’ anymore. 

Put simply, it’s editors have voted to say that they have concerns over the Mail’s fact checking and ‘outright fabrications.’

Did Jimmy Wales (Wikipedia founder) see our petition and give things a little nudge along the way? You never know!

At least we can safely say that Southend News Network has achieved something now! We can rest easy after our impending closure …
